Meet & Greet – Alissa Kotowski
In this YWOG meet and greet session we will meet Dr Alissa Kotowski, Assistant Professor at Earth Sciences. She specializes in the strength and deformation mechanisms of minerals at tectonic plate boundaries. Her research integrates field and laboratory methods to investigate subduction zone mechanics and the flow behavior of solid earth materials, with a focus on both modern and ancient plate boundaries.
Alissa is a first-generation college student turned Assistant Professor at Utrecht University, is not only a leading researcher in geoscience but also a dedicated advocate for accessibility and equity in education, involved in exciting and innovative fieldwork approaches including virtual fieldwork.
The purpose of this event is to meet fellow Young Women in Geoscience in a comfortable and safe setting to exchange experiences and inspiration for you own career.
