Meet and Greet with Dr Pita Verweij

In this the third YWOG meet and greet session of 2023 we will meet Dr Pita Verweij, Associate Professor at the Copernicus Institute. Her research expertise is land use and biodiversity in the context of natural resource management.

For her research she has worked in a wide range of tropical ecosystems, from lowland forests to mountain grasslands, and from semi-arid to extremely humid. Due to her expertise she is frequently invited for various media outlets, for example to advise on which tropical products could be consumed without guilt. Next to an academic role she has also held societal positions, such as Secretary of the Prince Bernhard Nature Fund and  Women’s Representative in the government delegation to COP15 in Copenhagen.

She has kindly agreed to share her view on how she has experienced diversity throughout her academic career thus far and after what wanderings and choices she has reached this point.

The purpose of this event is to meet fellow Young Women in Geoscience in a comfortable and safe setting to exchange experiences and inspiration for you own career. There will be fairtrade coffee/tea and vegan banana bread.

Sign-up is appreciated but not required.

See you at 12.00 in VMA 8.82 on the 15th of June, bring your colleagues!

In case you are wondering if you belong to the target audience: if your interest has been peaked, you are welcome 😊
